SOCIALTECTURE is ...
... a fusion of SOCIAL LIFE and ARCHITECTURE. It is an upcoming profession that combines scientific and practical knowledge about life and social dynamics with architectural expertise. Socialtecture speaks directly to those shaping our built environment today – decision-makers and emerging professionals alike – who wish to leave a lasting, positive mark on society and on generations to come. Socialtecture´s core question "What would life do" guides us to transform cities: for life, from life, with life.
Form follows LIfe

LIFE FIRST
Socialtecture extends conventional approaches to urban design, creating environments that put life, people and community at the center. Our mission is to fundamentally rethink how we design and experience urban spaces – transforming them into places that foster connection, health, and a genuine sense of belonging. Although the goals are clearly defined – above all in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in the New European Bauhaus initiative. The real challenge is in the next step: turning these ambitions into practice and understanding how to do it, day by day and place by place.
To encourage learning and a culture of positive change, the School of Socialtecture was launched. Julia Erdmann coined the term Socialtecture after decades of working in urban development. Together with her co-founder Indra Musiol, she distilled universal teachings about social life and architecture, which resulted in the 9 Socialtecture Principles of Life. These offer a compass for city planning, architecture, and real estate, placing the living at the heart of every decision – and translating good intentions into meaningful action.
