ABOUT

Complex challenges can no longer be solved by “more building” alone. Escalating construction and social costs make it increasingly difficult to tackle today’s problems with traditional solutions. The loneliness pandemic – named by the WHO as one of the greatest health challenges of our time – is just one example of why the old equations no longer add up. Architecture and planning must now join forces with social life to create cities that are healthy, vibrant, and economically viable.

Bridging a critical gap, Socialtecture unites disciplines and perspectives that truly belong together. Ambitious visions for cities are translated into small, practical steps that drive real change, Socialtecture fosters meaningful collaboration among stakeholders from administration, politics, investors, and citizens. By viewing places, spaces, and buildings through the lens of life the approach ensures that everything built and created supports connection and togetherness.

SPREADING THE WORD OF SOCIALTECTURE
Julia Erdmann and Indra Musiol

We are often asked to provide orientation – to help navigate complexity and offer guidance in shaping the places and spaces around us. But for this compass, "tecture" alone is not enough.
Today, we see a clear pattern: everything seems to have a lobby-except life itself. At decision-making tables, politics, business, administration, and special interests are all represented. But who speaks for life? This is the role we take on with Socialtecture.

Mastering Socialtecture takes more  than technical expertise or design skills. With over 50 years of combined experience, we unite diverse disciplines and perspectives. Interdisciplinary collaboration has always been our daily practice, not just a concept. Our commitment is clear: We stand up for what connects us all and advocate for life in all its forms – ensuring that togetherness has a voice in every conversation about the future of our built environment.
