The School of Socialtecture empowers urban professionals to put social life at the heart of how cities and places are imagined, designed and built.
It all comes down to everyday life – as it is and as it is shaped by what comes next. This is where social sustainability happens.
When a new place is created or transformed, countless decisions are made – plans are drawn, numbers are calculated, standards are met.
But one crucial voice is usually missing: the one asking, “Does this actually work for people – not just now, but for what lies ahead?“ Social sustainability – alongside ecological and economic concerns – is still too often overlooked. Not because it doesn’t matter, but because many don’t know how to approach it in practice.
The School of Socialtecture equips you to become that voice – leading the way through projects that turn ideas into practice. With clear principles, strong arguments, and practical tools to put real life back at the centre of every project.

The School of Socialtecture offers programs for different stages of your journey – from first steps to hands-on project work.
Basic Course
Your first step into Socialtecture, gaining an initial understanding of its approach and principles. Courses are usually held in German, with English sessions offered regularly.

A hands-on program to prepare you to design and shape your own project with Socialtecture – featuring intensive work on your development strategy across on-site sessions, online formats, and peer learning groups.

Designing from life means working with the 9 Socialtecture Principles of Life. You learn systematic methods for designing and decision-making – so your projects are grounded in the principles of living systems.
Acting
Acting with life means learning tools to address social and spatial challenges together – developing the “hardware” and “software” of a place in one move. Example: better housing leads to less loneliness.
