Can communal living counteract this and thus be an answer to key societal questions?
Loneliness in society and land consumption are steadily increasing, while housing costs continue to rise. New answers are being sought to these age-old questions.
Can cohousing offer a solution to these central societal challenges? Cohousing is not a new idea. However, new approaches and models are emerging, and the spectrum of cohousing is expanding. In addition to building cooperatives, there are new housing and architectural concepts, such as cluster apartments or shared rentals. A recent study on housing trends in Hamburg indicates enormous demand: around 23,000 households are looking for shared housing.
Will cohousing become a model for many, one that can counteract loneliness, reduce land consumption, make housing more affordable, and contribute to a sustainable and vibrant neighborhood?
The Agency for Building Cohousing of the Hamburg Authority for Urban Development and Housing (BSW) invites all interested parties to a panel discussion with six experts from diverse perspectives. Join the discussion!
